L. Major Academic-Related Services to the Nation outside the University System

I have interacted with various government agencies dealing with various issues related to indigenous intellectual properties such as the Center for Black African Arts and Civilization (CBBAC), Nigeria Natural Medicine Development Agency (NNMDA), Bio-resources Development and Conservation Program (BDCP) and Nigerian Institute of Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD).  Other landmark responsibilities at Nigeria Copyright commission that aligns with the required skills are:

  • Writing the proposal for the – Recognition of Intellectual Property Rights and the Nigeria Copyright Commission at NEPAD African Trade Fair of Indigenous Products and Services.
  • Writing the report of Syndicate Group 1 on WIPO Development and EOWAS IP Agenda at the Nigeria Copyright Management Retreat in Abuja.
  • The Intellectual Property Development Plan (IPDP) for the Country of Nigeria.
  • Preliminary Bilateral Meeting of the Council of Europe and the office of the Attorney General of the Federation – Department of International and Comparative law. The preliminary bilateral meeting was a request by Council of Europe to meet with key institutions and officers of the government of Nigeria critical to the issues of cybercrime and cybersecurity, as part of the process for commencing the accession to the International Convention on Cybercrime negotiations with Nigeria.
  • Coordinator of the Kenya Copyright Board study visit to Nigeria Copyright Commission in collaboration with World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)
